History Workbooks - $35 each with shipping

The History Workbooks Vol. 1, 2 and 3 are workbooks only, but can be used with any text or source material. These are resources that evolved from my own teaching of music history to students. They are suitable for self study, individual lessons or group classes. Each page is printed on one side only, allowing for notes to be written on the facing page. Each workbook can be purchased for $35 (includes shipping within Canada) by contacting joycejanzen@gmail.com. Payment may be made by etransfer or cheque. Vol. 1 (95 pages Link to Sample Pages Vol 1) is an overview of four eras of music history, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern Era. Representative composers are chosen for each era with a piece by each composer. Biographical information, musical style and principal works are covered for each composer. Templates are provided for each piece as it is studied. At the end of the workbook, all the templates are reproduced for review and study. In addition, there are generic templates for multi-movement instrumental works, single movement instrumental works, and vocal works. There is also a generic template for composer biography.

Vol. 2 (62 pages Link to Sample Pages Vol 2) is a study of the development of genre throughout four eras of music history, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical. Sacred vocal music, secular vocal music and instrumental music are covered for each era. Templates are provided for each piece as it is studied. At the end of the workbook, all the templates are reproduced for review and study. In addition, there are generic templates for multi-movement instrumental works, single movement instrumental works, and vocal works.

Vol. 3 (90 pages Link to Sample Pages Vol 3 ) is a study of two eras of music history, Romantic and Modern Era. Eight representative composers are chosen for the Romantic era with a piece by each composer. Biographical information is covered for six of these composers, musical style and principal works are covered for each composer. Ten representative composers from Europe are chosen for the Modern era. Biographical information is covered for five of these composers, musical style and principal works are covered for each composer. Four representative composers from North America are studied as well as four representative performers on the world stage. Templates are provided for each piece as it is studied. At the end of the workbook, all the templates are reproduced for review and study. In addition, there are generic templates for multi-movement instrumental works, single movement instrumental works, and vocal works. There are also generic templates for composer biography and performer on the world stage.
